Editorial Policy

How we research, write, review, and maintain the guides and calculators on DebtBloom — so you can trust the numbers and the advice.

Who writes DebtBloom

Guides on DebtBloom are produced by the DebtBloom Editorial Team — a small group focused on consumer debt, credit cards, and personal-finance math. We write in plain language and show our work, so every claim can be checked.

How we source facts

We prioritize primary, authoritative sources over secondary blogs. That means:

  • U.S. government and regulator data — the CFPB, FTC, and Federal Reserve.
  • Peer-reviewed research where behavior or outcomes are involved (e.g., snowball vs. avalanche studies).
  • The actual math — our calculator logic is documented and unit-tested.

How we review content

  • Every guide is fact-checked against the sources above before publishing.
  • Numbers, rates, and averages are dated and refreshed when the underlying data changes.
  • Calculator results come from tested code, not hand-written examples, so figures stay internally consistent.

Keeping content current

Debt figures and rates move. We revisit guides periodically and stamp a “last updated” date when a page is meaningfully revised. If you spot something out of date or wrong, tell us — see corrections below.

Corrections

Found an error? Email hello@debtbloom.com. We correct confirmed mistakes promptly and update the page's revision date.

Independence & how we make money

Our guidance is not influenced by advertisers. DebtBloom is free and supported through clearly disclosed partnerships; we only mention products we'd consider ourselves, and recommendations never depend on whether a partner pays us.

Not financial advice

DebtBloom provides educational tools and information, not personalized financial, legal, or tax advice. See our full disclaimer. For advice specific to your situation, consult a qualified professional.
